Press Release:

WAYNESBORO RESIDENT TO TEAM UP WITH EMMY-WINNING PRODUCER
FOR REALITY TV PILOT TO BE SHOT LOCALLY

Waynesboro, Pa., resident Marty Gallagher will team up with seven-time Emmy-winning TV producer Mark Hammond to produce a fitness reality show tentatively titled 60-Day Makeover.

Gallagher is a nationally known fitness scribe who has written over 200 fitness and training columns for washingtonpost.com and has been a feature writer for some of the nations top fitness magazines for thirty years. He won five world and eight national championships as a master powerlifter and was a co-coach of the 1991 world champion U.S. powerlifting squad.

Gallagher, Hammond, videographer Hilary Wright and technical adviser Fred Weissberger will produce a pilot episode in which selected participants renovate their physiques and improve their health through a regimented program of weight training, cardiovascular training and cutting-edge nutrition. The process will take 60 days, and the selected individuals will be filmed every step of the way. The finished product will be shown to major cable and TV networks.

Hammond is enthusiastic about the opportunity to work with Gallagher, who is regarded as one of the nations leading fitness theorists. Marty approached us with an exciting concept he and his squad would work with out-of-shape individuals using what he calls purposefully primitive methods, and we would film the transformation process. It will, in my professional opinion, make for compelling television, and I am quite confident that he can produce dramatic physical transformations for the participants. Im equally confident that we can find a syndication deal with a network.

The shows premise is that less is better. Participants will exercise daily and eat a low-fat, high-protein diet. Says Gallagher: The fitness industry is tainted and poisoned with commercialism. Product sales have confused the fact that fantastic physical improvement can be realized with a minimal weekly time investment and sound eating habits. No aerobic machines or fancy equipment and only food purchased from the grocery store will be used. Well use no nutritional supplements or products of any kind. Well depend on precision nutrition, hard work confined to short sessions, and plenty of old-fashioned discipline and tenacity.

Gallagher will be assisted by multi-time world champion powerlifter Kirk Karwoski, who will supervise the weight training, and Dr. John Emmett, a Baltimore maxillofacial surgeon, who will oversee the diet and compile medical statistics for the selected participants.

Training will take place at Gallaghers Waynesboro compound, although location shoots in Potomac, Md., and Baltimore are scheduled as well. We will be interviewing highly motivated individuals interested in participation, said Gallagher. There is no charge or fee whatsoever. The ideal candidate would be someone untrained, out of shape and overweight we are interested in working with folks whove had no success with fitness methods but who are ready for change. We want to talk with sincere, disciplined individuals ready to work. Well need them to commit to the process for nine weeks. Filming is tentatively scheduled to commence in mid-September.

Local residents interested in participating should send an E-mail to Marty Gallagher at SOMG@supernet.com
