Cant we all just get alongI am an Arnold fan though sometimes you might not know it. The guy is so charismatic and larger than life that his presence seems to shock people stupid. Point-in-fact, the bombastic Chris Matthews who never misses an opportunity to talk over top of someone lobbed the Guv one steroid softball after anotheragain the question to ask is this: why do you Arnold lend your name to the biggest gathering of steroid freaks on planet earth the Arnold Classic?
Someone flash a big blowup picture of the female winner shaking Arnolds hand as he is presenting her a winners check. She is being rewarded for morphing herself into a man. Someone show a big blowup of the governor raising the hand of the mens bodybuilding champion while handing him a check for $100,000+ and say, Arnold, why are you empowering and financially enabling blatant steroid freaks? Why are you subsidizing, institutionalizing drug abuse?
Will he deny that these people are on drugs? Who are you going to believe? Me or your lying eyes? Ditto the Strongman competition run at the Arnold Classic where they give away a new $70,000 auto. Ditto the powerlifting portion.
When Matthews tossed him the what should they do in baseball? question, the Terminator said something to the effect that we need to look ahead, not backwards.
Okay, the next question becomes: assuming they decide to test at next years competition, will it be the fig leaf variety (day of competition testing) or will it be the deadly serious out-of-competition testing? The AAU uses a drug testing outfit that has cleverly linked up with a network of labs around the country that do employee testing for recreational drugs. They inform the athlete to report within 24 hours to one of the lab testing network offices in the geographic vicinity of the athlete - or else they are suspended for a year. No ifs, ands, or buts.
This is the way to really crack down; I was interested to hear Arnold talk about how he wouldnt want his son to take gas. Lets see how this unfolds, I doubt his political opponents will let this slide and if he attempts to half-step or fig-leaf this one in an attempt to shore up attendance (the Arnold audience definitely wants to see the freaks in all their resplendent glory) then this could turn into an Achilles Heel.
Anyone watching the Ultimate Fighter reality show on Spike? I missed it last night and wondered who got whipped. I liked Stallones boxing reality show, The Contender, and have seen two episodes. One of the losing fighters apparently committed suicide though they cant say for sure if it was a result of losing. I’m sure it didnt help his mental state.
Guess what I found? I was rooting around some transfiles looking for photos for the website when I found seventy articles from the late eighties and early nineties including training interviews with all the Weider contract athletes, Flex Wheeler, Lee Priest, Dorian Yates, Dillet and a whole boat load of lifters and pro athletes. I have an interview with Royce Gracie right before he and Ken Shamrock fought to a draw in UFC V. Its going to take me a month to sort through this stuff. My plan is to post some of it in the near future.
